Woking Arts Hub was set up in 2013 in response to the need expressed by artists and arts organisations in the borough for an active networking and support organisation. The initial momentum came from the Our Museum programme at The Lightbox, funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
We aim to raise the profile of the extraordinary wealth of arts in the borough, providing a forum for discussion and sharing of information (through regular face-to-face meetings, the website, the Newsletter, events and social media) and giving opportunities for collaboration with and support from the business community.
As well as providing opportunities for artist-to-artist networking, training and skills sharing we help in the publicising and sharing of funding opportunities and in facilitating collaboration between the wide range of local artists and arts organisations. In short, we set out to benefit the arts, artists and arts organisations of all types within Woking Borough.
Woking Arts Hub enjoys the active support of Woking Borough Council but is an independent body not in any way part of the Council. We have a large and expanding membership of local artists – from jewellery makers to theatre companies – for whom we try to provide the service that they need.
In 2018 we changed our name to "Creative Woking, an Arts Hub for Woking", to better reflect our aims and what we offer to the local community.
